Senior forward Jill Sprong had a hat trick when the Verona High School girls soccer team took on Montclair Kimberley Academy on Friday, but three goals weren’t enough to secure a win for VHS.

That’s because MKA’s Olivia Vaughn had a hat trick of her own and teammates Samantha Pai, Sarah Pryor and Sara Feraca each added a goal as well, making the score 6-3 in MKA’s favor.

Verona goalie Diana Flores had another strong outing, with 13 saves. Kelly Carr was credited with two assists

Verona’s record now stands at 2-6. The girls travel to Livingston on Tuesday to face Newark Academy.
