Verona Recreation Announces Summer Programs

Three Boys Holding Sports BallsThe Verona Recreation Department has announced its summer program list for 2013. These programs are only available to Verona residents and a valid driver’s license is required when registering as proof of residence. All playgrounds cost $200 per child and there is a maximum of $400 for a family. There are no refunds and residents can pay by cash, check or credit (Visa or MasterCard).

Online and in-person registration begins on April 1, 2013 for all playgrounds. Tot-Lot registration must be done in-person. A special in-person registration for all programs will be held at the Verona Community Center on April 6, 2013 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. After May
31, there will be a $30/$50 late fee for playground registrations and a $10 late fee for all other programs.

There are four summer playground programs broken down by age group. The hours of the four programs are from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Tot-Lot is for pre-k and children who will be entering kindergarten in September 2013. A child entering Tot-Lot must be 4 years of age by 10/1/13. This is the only program where in person registration is required. A birth certificate and immunization record must be presented.

Primary Park is for children entering 1st and 2nd grade in September 2013 and is held at Laning Avenue School. Elementary Zone is for children entering 3rd and 4th grade in September 2013 and is held at F.N. Brown School. Summer Adventure is for children entering 5th through 8th grade in September 2013 and will be held at Verona High School.

There are also various trips offered for Summer Adventure, Elementary Zone and Primary Park. Trips include Turtle Back Zoo, Indoor Karting, Laser One, Jumpnasium, Eagle Rock Lanes, NJ Rock Gym, Hilltop Hiking and more. These programs are limited and registration is necessary.

Online or in-person registration for the trips begins on April 1. There is a late fee of $10 after 5/31 and all trips must be registered NO LATER than 6/14.

There is an informational meeting on May 13 at The Verona Community Center at 7 p.m.
