After an amazing season defined by hard work, camaraderie and overcoming obstacles, Verona High School’s Marching Maroon and White wrapped up its 2011 marching band season by receiving its second consecutive Cadets Award for Excellence on Saturday, November 12, at the US Scholastic Band Association’s (USSBA) nationals competition in Allentown, Penn.
With a score of 96.825, Verona’s band took a close second place in its band category and once again swept the entire competition of 22 bands by being given the one and only Cadets Award for Excellence of the night. They were awarded the same honor at the New Jersey State Marching Band Championships on Saturday, November 5 in Union.
The new Cadets award for US Scholastic Band Association (USSB) is awarded for achievement in effect, creativity and excellence.
The Cadets, a program of Youth Education in The Arts, are one of the oldest and most honored continuously operating drum and bugle corps in the world with performing members from all over the country and world.
