If you like basketball and playoffs, you have a lot to love in Verona right now.
The 5th grade boys travel basketball team goes up against Nutley for the championship on Sunday, February 27, at 6 p.m. at the Nutley Recreation Center at 44 Park Avenue. Verona scored an upset victory against top-seeded West Orange last week, while Nutley beat Livingston in its semifinals 29 to 20.
The 6th grade boys team, meanwhile, will face West Essex for their group’s championship on Thursday, March 3 at 6:30 p.m. in the Noecker School New Gym in Roseland. The sixth graders beat Livingston in their semifinals.
The 5th grade girls prevailed over a strong Livingston squad in their semifinals game last week, but they are still awaiting the outcome of the West Caldwell/West Essex game to determine who they will face in the finals.
