Charles Bahr & Son, a Verona fixture since 1924, is closing the lumber side of its business. Bahr is selling off existing lumber inventory and not taking new orders for building products.
But the company notified customers last week that its oil company is not affected by the decision and that oil deliveries and service “will not be interrupted in any way”.
To Our Valued Customers:
As of January 24, 2011, we have made the decision to close the lumber portion of our business.
We wanted to assure you that our oil company is fully operational and your service will not be interrupted in any way.
We thank you for your business and look forward to serving you for many years to come.

President John Bahr, the fifth generation of the Bahr family in the business, says that no decision has yet been made on what will happen to the company’s lumber assets, which could include selling the lumber yard to another lumber business. But under the proposed zoning plan now being considered in Verona, the Bahr property could be a site for residential development.
Funny, I am a longtime customer and the first time I heard about this was on this website.
