Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr. has called off the deer hunt at the Eagle Rock and Hilltop Reservations that had been scheduled for Tuesday, February 1, because of anticipated weather problems. The National Weather Service is predicting a mix of snow and ice tomorrow, starting around 7 a.m. and lasting into Wednesday. The county says the deer cull will go forward as planned on Thursday, February 3 at both locations and that tomorrow’s cancellation will not be made up.
There is a full schedule of future hunts on the MyVeronaNJ.com calendar. On those days, Eagle Rock and Hilltop will be closed to the public, including all parking areas and roads inside the two reservations. Fairview Avenue in Cedar Grove and Verona will be closed to traffic, but all other county roadways will remain open. The Highlawn Pavilion in West Orange will also remain open.
