Thanksgiving dinner isn’t just about the turkey. Half the fun, for me at least, is filling up my plate with other foods as much as I can. I can’t always finish them, but I love trying them. Chef’s Lab in Montclair, where Verona’s Cardie Mortimer teaches, is offering a follow up to their turkey preparation class with a class on exploring great side dishes for the the big meal. The class, to be taught by chef Scott Savokinas, will explore traditional preparation of side dishes as well as ways to update the flavors of these foods we love. The class also includes a component of what can be made ahead which can be very helpful on the busy day. The class will offer a hands-on style of teaching and involves full participation for attendees.

The class is on Saturday, November 20 from noon to 5 p.m. and costs $100 per person.
