At the annual senior awards ceremony in June, the top VHS scholars in the Class of 2010 were honored. The Edward J. Bloustein Distinguished Scholars program, named for the seventeenth president of Rutgers University, recognizes the outstanding academic achievement of graduating New Jersey high school seniors. The scholarship is awarded to students with a class rank of one, two or three in the graduating class or a class rank in the top 10 percent of the class at the end of junior year with a combined critical reading and math SAT score of 1260 or higher.
In past years, Bloustein Distinguished Scholars have been offered an annual award of up to $1,000 without regard to financial need. However, because of budget concerns, it is unclear whether financial awards will be given to this year’s winners. The New Jersey state legislature will notify scholars as to its decision by July 1.
This year’s Bloustein Distinguished Scholars are (front row): Tedi Rosenstein, Victoria Yeh, Jessica Sam, Bina Nayee, Emily Fitzpatrick. Back row: Evan Lewis, Erin Percevault, Jessica Noyes, Alex Eliasof, Nicole Robertson and John Reed (not pictured).
