Mrs. Suzanne Martin died on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston. She was 66 years old.

Visiting will be in the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona on February 4 from 1 to 4 p.m. A funeral mass will be offered in Our Lady of the Lake Church, 22 Lakeside Avenue, Verona on February 5 at 10:30 a.m.

Born in Montclair, Mrs. Martin grew up in Montclair, and then Verona, graduating from Verona High School in 1975. She had a career as a customer service rep for Verizon for 25 years, retiring in 2009.

Suzanne was a Life member of the Verona Rescue Squad beginning in spring of 1979, where she met her husband, John III. They made their home on Hillside Avenue, where she cared for and raised their son, John IV. From there, becoming a loving mother-in-law to Gina, and an amazing grandmother to Jessica and John V.

She enjoyed many activities including ceramics, baking cookies or cakes, and supporting family at all their events. But her most cherished times were at home or gatherings with her family, extended family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, John A. Martin, III; her son, John A. Martin, IV and his wife, Gina; her grandchildren, Jessica Martin and John A. Martin, V; her siblings, Cynthia Mierzwa (Stefan), Arthur DiGeronimo (Elizabeth), Kenneth DiGeronimo (Linda) Peter DiGeronimo (Lorraine) along with Phyllis Fenton, Jack Martin, Alice McCarthy (John), Nancy Curran (Keith), Dan Martin (Cassia), Joel Martin (Monika); and many nieces and nephews including Amanda, Kristen, Joe, Rebecca, Eloise, Melani, Jennifer, AJ, Nina, Timothy, Ursula, Thomas, Emily, David, Allison, Kelly, Deanna, Matthew, Carmella, Rosie, Brittany, John, Hailey, Matthew, Cameron, Michael, Jillian, Abigail, Cole, Gavin and Amelia.

In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital would be appreciated.
