C.H.I.L.D. (Children Having Individual Learning Differences) is one again partnering with the Verona Public Schools District on Inclusive Schools Week, set for the week of January 22. The week is an opportunity for educators, students, and parents to learn about students with learning, developmental, and or physical disabilities. There is a new theme to each day to help students understand what inclusion is and why it is so important.
To support this effort, motivational speaker Jordan Toma will present to Verona’s middle school students on January 24 and C.H.I.L.D. has provided Verona staff members with resources and daily activities designed to build empathy and understanding.
C.H.I.L.D. is also holding a poster contest for students in the district. Students should create a poster that shows inclusivity, kindness, or belonging. There will be a $50 prize for each winner and there will be one winner per school. All winning posters will be displayed in the Verona Public Library. More information about the poster contest can be found in the Friday Folder.
C.H.I.L.D. is a non-profit organization made up of caregivers dedicated to providing support for children who are classified under IDEA, Section 504, or facing a learning challenge. Our goal is to provide a solution-oriented forum for families, educators, and administrators to effectively communicate and collaborate and help bridge the gap between special education and general education.
