Torquato Trasente, 84, of Middletown Township, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2023. Torquato, a compassionate and selfless man, was born on January 8, 1939, in Manocalzati, Province of Avellino, Italy. He was a master tailor, a trade he learned in his home country before immigrating to the United States at the age of 19. He settled in Bloomfield, New Jersey, where he lived for 30 years before moving to Verona in 1992, and then finally to Middletown in 2013.

After retirement from Gemmell’s Cleaners, Tailoring & Alteration in Verona, Torquato filled his time with his hobbies, which included playing cards, shooting pool, and playing bocce. His favorite thing to do was spending time with his three grandchildren. He was a loyal member of Our Lady of the Lake Church in Verona. His commitment to his craft, loyalty to his community, and dedication to his family were the cornerstones of his fulfilling life.

Torquato, a devoted family man, was married to his beloved wife, Mary, for 58 years before her passing. He is survived by his daughter, Sandra Auletta (Richard), his son, Michael Trasente, and his grandchildren, David Trasente, Justin Drozdowski, and Brianna Drozdowski; his siblings Gaetano Trasente, Irene Trasente, Antonio Trasente and Arturo Trasente. He was preceded in death by his parents, Giuseppe and Maria Trasente, his dear wife, Mary Trasente, siblings Antonia Colella and Lucia Fontana.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Lady of the Lake Church Endowment Trust, 22 Lakeside Avenue, Verona, NJ 07044 would be appreciated.
