Ann E. Columbo died on Sunday, November 19, 2023 in Morristown. She was 95 years old.
Visiting will begin in the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona on Saturday, November 25 at 9 a.m., followed by a prayer service at 11 a.m. Interment will be at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.
Born and raised in Orange, she lived in West Orange for many years before moving to her own apartment in Bloomfield. In 1998 she moved to Verona, where she lived with her sister Margaret and brother James.
Ann graduated from Orange High School and then worked as a secretary for the Mitchell Supreme Oil Company in Orange for many years.
Ann loved to travel the world with her friends. She was a devoted Catholic and loved God and was a blessing to everyone she met. Ann loved baseball and never missed a Mets game. She enjoyed playing golf, jigsaw puzzles and was an expert at the daily crosswords. Ann was best known for her beautiful singing voice and the love for music. Her magical moment was when she starred as Madame Butterfly in the famous opera. Ann really loved life and people but most of all Ann loved her family. She was a gentle, kind loving soul with a beautiful heart and a beautiful smile who always looked to help others. Ann will be missed dearly by her family. She lived a long life and at the end she knew she would be reunited with those she loved and lost.
Ann is survived by her nieces and nephews, Roseanne Abato, Peter Abato, Gus Abato, Thomas Abato, Robert Waters, John Waters, Jeanne Panayiotou, Rosemary Dunlap, Thomas Columbo, Joseph Columbo and many great nieces and great nephews.
Ann was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Rose Columbo; her siblings, Frances Waters, Mary Abato, Thomas Columbo, James Columbo, William Columbo, Margaret Columbo and her nephews, James Abato and Joseph Abato, and her long-time companion Tony Amato.
