Anthony J. LoManto, Known For His Tomato Garden

Mr. Anthony J. LoManto died on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 in Livingston. He was 90 years old. Visiting will be in the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona, on Thursday, November 2 from 4 to 7 p.m. Interment will be private.

Born in Newark, Tony grew up in East Orange and moved to Verona in 1967. Tony served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1959.

He started a 40-year career with General Motors, first in Linden and then in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, before retiring in 2002. He also enjoyed working part time with the Filoso family at Hillcrest Farms in Verona. Tony could always be seen in his yard tending to the lawn, trimming the shrubs and raising his famous tomatoes.

He is predeceased by his wife, Patricia (nee Karow) LoManto, and his siblings, Joseph LoManto, Beatrice Esposito and Fran Schweinberg.

He is survived by his son, Michael A. LoManto, Sr. and his wife Michele; his grandchildren, Jessica Lynn Hart (Michael), Michelle Marie LoManto, Michael A. LoManto, Jr.; his step grandson, Noel Stephen Baron; his brother, Orlando LoManto; his great grandchildren, Michael Joseph Hart, Vivian Rose Hart; his step-great-grandchildren, Austin Baron and Dash Baron. He is also survived by his good friend Butch, who looked in on him each day.
