Eleanor Oranges passed away on Thursday, September 28, at her home in Verona at the age of 97.

Eleanor’s life was a testament to her unwavering love for her family and her unyielding strength of character. Born into a large and close-knit family, Eleanor’s upbringing instilled in her the values of togetherness and unity. She was born and raised in Newark to Nicola and Rose (nee Mauro) Pingaro and would eventually call Verona her home. As a dedicated homemaker, Eleanor poured her heart and soul into creating a warm and welcoming home for her loved ones. Her family was her world, and her love for them knew no bounds. She took great pride in caring for her home and ensuring that every member of her family felt cherished and supported. Eleanor’s professional journey as a sales representative for Macy’s was a testament to her strong-willed nature.

Eleanor is predeceased by her parents, siblings, Jeanette, Louis, Tina, Frank, Margaret, Rosemarie and Nicholas and devoted husband, Anthony Oranges, she is survived by her loving children, Kathleen Oranges and her husband, Robert E. Lee and Anthony Oranges and his wife, Gerry; treasured grandchildren, Anthony Oranges, Jr. and his wife, Megan, and Dylan Oranges; cherished great-grandson, Anthony Oranges, III; and many friends who will dearly miss her.

Funeral services will begin on Tuesday, October 3 at 9 a.m. at Shook’s Cedar Grove Funeral Home, 486 Pompton Ave., Cedar Grove. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Cedar Grove with interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, N.J. Visitation will be on Monday, October 2 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memories and condolences may be shared at shookscedargrove.com.
