The Verona Police Department is reporting that a carjacking took place this afternoon on Floyd Road, which is on the Laning side of town.
According to the VPD, at 3:26 p.m., a Floyd Road resident was approached by three males as she pulled her Porsche into her driveway. The three then punched the resident about the head and face, ultimately knocking her to the ground.
They fled in the resident’s car and the car they arrived in, and they were spotted by Officer Brian McMahon near Bloomfield Avenue and Mt. Prospect Avenue. Officers Brian McMahon and Sean McMahon pursued the vehicles into West Orange, but the VPD says they had to break off the chase “due to the conditions and the suspects’ reckless driving.”
The victim was treated at the scene by the Verona Rescue Squad but declined to go to the hospital.
The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is urged to call the VPD at 973-239-5000.
The police are reminding residents to be aware of their surroundings and call the police if they see something suspicious.
