Former Verona resident Ivie Hodge Gibbs passed away on June 26 at the age of 88.
Born in St. Martin, French West Indies, Mrs. Gibbs moved to the States in the 1950s to attend nursing school. While visiting friends on a visit home, she met her future husband Gerville. They were married for 59 years and have three loving children, all graduates of Verona High School.
After working as a pediatric nurse for decades at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, New York City, Ivie and Gerville moved back home to St. Martin to live out their remaining days.
Ivie is preceded in death by her parents Martha and Joel Hodge, and her brother James. She is survived by her husband of 59 years Gerville Sr; her three children Arlene, Gerville Jr (wife Lisa), and Daniella (husband Matthew); her three grandchildren Pierce, Quincy, and Maximilien; her siblings Bertin, Clement, Melford (wife Carmen), and Linda; and countless relatives and friends.
