The Youth Orchestras of Essex County is accepting auditions for the 2023-24 school year. The organization, which was founded in 1956, provides musical opportunities for Essex County students–including Verona–from grades 1 through 12. Verona no longer has a stringed instrument program.

The program features five different bands:

* The overture strings ensemble for beginners ages 6 to 11;
* The junior strings symphony for ages 11 to 15,
* The Essex County Symphony for advanced strings ages 14 to 17
* The Essex Winds Ensemble for woodwinds bras and percussion with at least two years’ experiences for ages 12-17
* The ABC! Ensemble, a jazz, blues and world music group for advanced students of all instruments ages 12 to 17

The groups practice once a week, have two seasonal concerts and a variety of public performances throughout the school year. For information on how to enter the audition portal visit yoec.org or email [email protected].
