In the wake of cancer diagnoses for both a Verona High School student and a Verona elementary school student, the students at H.B. Whitehorne Middle School will be changing up their spring fundraiser. Instead of doing Jump Rope for Heart, the students will be doing a “Verona Strong” event for the cancer charity Relay for Life.
On Monday, May 23, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., the middle school students will be walking on the HBW track. They will be joined in the afternoon by VHS students.
The Relay for Life fundraisers benefit the American Cancer Society, which has invested $5 billion in research since 1946 and served 3.2 million patients in the last decade alone.
