Playoff Season Begins

The playoffs for Verona High Schools fall sports teams kick off tomorrow, Monday, November 1, and you’re going to have to hustle to see it all.

At 5 p.m. Monday, the volleyball team, which ended the regular season 15-7 overall (8-3 in the SEC American division), hosts the NJSIAA quarterfinals in the new gym. Verona volleyball is the #2 seed in North Jersey, Section 2, Group 1 and had a bye in the opening round. The girls will take on #7 seed Hasbrouck Heights.

At 6 p.m. Monday, boys soccer starts its playoffs on Sellitto Field. Verona’s boys, who are the #4 seed in North Jersey, Section 2, Group 1, will host #13 Palisades Park. Verona boys soccer ended the season with a 7-7-1 record.

Girls soccer also made it to the playoffs. Its game is 6 p.m. on Tuesday, November 2, also on Sellitto Field. Verona’s girls are the #8 seed in North Jersey, Section 2, Group 1, and they will take on #9 seed Roselle Park. Verona finished the regular season 10-5 overall (6-1 in the SEC Liberty division).

For the football playoffs, you’ll have to wait until Friday, November 5. Verona, the #7 seed, plays #2 Newton at Newton at 7 p.m., in the North Jersey, Section 2, Group 2.
