At its Tuesday meeting, the Board of Education approved a resolution naming Hazard Young Attea Associates (HYA) as its search firm to find a new superintendent. The BOE evaluated proposals from three firms before selecting HYA, an educational executive search firm based in Schaumburg, Illinois.
The BOE said that the next step for HYA would be to work with the community and school stakeholders to develop a profile for the next leader of Verona’s schools, which will set the stage for its recruiting effort.
After seven years in Verona, Superintendent Dr. Rui Dionisio will leave next month for Ramapo Indian Hills Regional High School District. In September, the BOE named West Caldwell resident Dr. Lydia E. Furnari, the former superintendent in Franklin Lakes, as our interim superintendent.
In August, the BOE hosted a presentation by the New Jersey School Boards Association about how a superintendent is chosen. You can watch that presentation here.
