Unlike most of the other sports at Verona High School, field hockey gets no financial support from the school district’s budget. When it returned to the VHS sports lineup in 2019 after a 40-year-hiatus, it was as an entirely pay-to-play sport.
To keep on playing, field hockey is holding a car wash tomorrow, Saturday, August 28, in the loop in front of H.B. Whitehorne Middle School from 1 to 4 p.m. You can pay what you’d like for the wash.
If tomorrow is a wash-out because of the latest tropical storm moving through our area, we’ll keep you posted on the rain date.
