Louise B. Ritscher, Former School Nurse

Louise B. Ritscher, 91, of West Caldwell, died on Saturday, September 19, 2020.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in the First Presbyterian Church at Caldwell, Bloomfield Avenue. Arrangements are under the direction of the Paul Ippolito-Dancy Memorial, 9 Smull Avenue, Caldwell.

Born in Caldwell, Ms. Ritscher was raised in Bloomfield and lived in North Caldwell for 42 years before moving to West Caldwell in 1998.

A registered nurse, she was employed by the Verona Board of Education for 36 years as a school nurse before retiring in 1988 as a supervisor. She was also in the Who Who’s in American Nursing.

Ms. Ritscher was a member of the Essex County School Nurses Association, the National, State and County Nurses Associations and the Educational Association.

She earned her nursing degree in 1951 from Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, New York City.

She was a poet and was noted for her poems, as well as the lyrics that she has written for songs and hymns.

An active member of the Presbyterian Church at Caldwell, Ms. Ritscher served as an Elder and trustee at the church, was a member of the church choir, served on the Christian Education Committee and taught church school and adult bible classes. She was also a Deacon at the Bloomfield First Presbyterian Church.

Ms. Ritscher is survived by a few cousins and many loyal and loving friends.
