Verona cheerleaders of all ages came together on Thursday to raise money to help breast cancer patients and their families, and they did it in a big way: Together, these young ladies raised more than $1,550.
The annual Cheer for a Cure fundraiser benefits Minetteās Angels, a Verona non-profit that helps women in treatment, supports research and promotes breast health awareness. It also offers scholarships to Verona students entering the medical field, particularly nursing majors, to honor the late Minette Grosso McKenna, who was a nurse.
Verona High School’s varsity and JV cheerleaders took part in the event, and Francesca Valle, a senior varsity cheerleader kicked off the event by singing the National Anthem. They were joined by Verona Competitive Cheer’s White, Maroon and Silver teams, as well as the Eagles A-Varsity, Eagles B Team and Eagles B-JV, Eagles C Varsity and Eagles Flag cheerleaders.
The Eagles C team squad also made a special donation to Minette’s Angels’ patient assistance efforts in the form of a heart-filled poster packed with gift certificates for manicures and pedicures.
