Driver In Lakeside Death Gets 10 Years

Anthony Casale Jr. was sentenced Friday to 10 years in prison for hitting and killing Verona resident Megan Villanella on Lakeside Avenue in March 2017.

The Belleville man, who police said was driving under the influence of a controlled substance, had pleaded guilty to the crime in January. Villanella and her brother were waiting at the bus stop at Lakeside Avenue and Pease Avenue when Casale struck her and her brother, who was seriously injured. Villanella’s unborn daughter was also killed in the accident.
