Mrs. Lois C. Stiefbold, 88, died on March 17, 2019 at her home in Verona. Visiting in the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona will be on Wednesday, March 20 from 4 to 7 p.m. A funeral mass will be offered in Our Lady of the Lake Church on Thursday at 10 a.m.

Born in Red Bank, Mrs. Stiefbold grew up in Belford, N.J. and moved to Verona in 1954.

She earned a bachelor of arts degree from Trenton State Teachers’ College and was an elementary school teacher for many years, last working at the Calvary Lutheran Church Nursery School in Verona.

Mrs. Stiefbold was a member of the Verona Service League.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 63 years, George W. Stiefbold, her grandson, Andy Van Benschoten and her sister Jane Layton. She is survived by her loving children, Kathy Van Benschoten (Mark), Pat Cleveland, Scott Stiefbold (Gabriella), Jeff Stiefbold, Sue Wolff (Dave); and her cherished grandchildren, Harry Cleveland (Miki), Chris Cleveland (Sam), John Van Benschoten, Laura Stiefbold, Melissa Stiefbold, Christina Stiefbold, Sean Stiefbold, Mia Stiefbold, Kaitlyn Wolff, Alexa Wolff and great-grandchildren, Calvin and Cora Cleveland.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory to Forest Avenue School SCA, 118 Forest Avenue, Verona NJ 07044 would be greatly appreciated.
