Last Wednesday, the Group 4 Montclair Mounties used a fast start to take a 6-2 halftime lead and then held on just long enough to defeat the Verona Lady Hillbillies, 9-8, at Verona’s Sellitto Field.
Verona had to scramble to stop the bleeding after spotting the Mounties a 5-0 lead in the first half, and worked hard in the second half to climb back into it. The Lady Hillbillies nearly pulled off the upset in a spirited second half that saw Verona outscore the Mounties 6-3.
