The First Presbyterian Church of Verona held its annual picnic on the front lawn of the church on Sunday, September 10.

Manning the grill were Christopher Kiel, Ernie Kiel and Marcos Mercado, and attendees enjoyed a wide variety of treats.

Church youth sponsored a bake sale, raising $370 that will go to Presbyterian Disaster Relief to aid the victims of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma.

The afternoon also served as a thank you party for church Secretary Joyce Cougan (seen here with Pastor Lynn Rubier-Capron), who is retiring after 23 years of service.

This coming Sunday, September 17, the church will host the annual Blessing of the Animals on the front lawn, weather permitting. The service begins at 10:15 a.m. and all are invited to bring their beloved pet and well-behaved animal companion. You can also bring photos of your pet or your child’s favorite stuffed toys. The service will be followed by biscuits, kitty treats, bowls of water and human treats. Dress is very casual!
