Donna Cannizzaro: Verona’s time continuum is on a great path; but there is still untapped potential; untapped voices, untapped talents and stories to be written and resolutions and new ordinances to be passed. Verona has something for everyone and we need to stay balanced, focused and equally concerned for everyone, whether it’s a fifth generation or a newcomer.
Like most towns across America, we all share similar concerns and our issues are quite similar. But it’s not always the person with the most to say. Every neighborhood matters. Quieter voices can bring fresh ideas and a new perspective without getting bogged down in historical politics. A fresh outlook on the issues at hand can yield something great for everyone, keeping tradition but bridging the path toward the future.
While there are many issues facing Verona, I’d like to focus on the three of the following. I will address these issues in future communications.
1. Taxes, PILOT monies and accountability
2. Infrastructure – roads, utilities and sewer/drainage
3. Public Safety
4. Enhancing the Downtown Business District
