candles2017-4Mrs. Mildred “Ginnie” Couture died on Thursday, January 19, 2017 in West Orange. She was 90 years old.
Visiting will be in the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona on Saturday, January 21 from 2 to 4 p.m., with a Funeral Service to be held at 3:30 p.m.

Born in Harrison, Ginnie lived in Newark and Verona prior to moving to West Orange many years ago.

She was a directory assistance Operator for NJ Bell Telephone (Verizon) for 27 years, retiring in December 1992. Ginnie sang in the Choir of Our Lady of the Lake Church and was a member of the HG McCully Chapter of the Telephone Pioneers of America.

She was predeceased by her husband, Jean Marie “John” Couture and her brother, Richard Powers.

Ginnie is survived by her daughters, Claire Couture, Caryn Fitzpatrick; her sisters, Margaret Manos, Jean Powers; her cousin Andrew Couture; her granddaughter, Carrie A. Fitzpatrick; dear friend, Michael Del Russi; nephews, Richard Manos, Richard Powers and nieces Margaret Manos, Barbara Lamko, Nancy Jackson, Mary Manos, Jeanne Arington, Lynn Ockers, Susanne Harbaugh and Kelly Powers..

In lieu of flowers, donations to Food for the Poor, 6401 Lyons Road, Coconut Creek, FL 33073 or the National Federation of the Blind of New Jersey, 254 Spruce Street, Bloomfield, NJ 07003-3644 would be appreciated.
