Verona Police Blotter: Feb. 5-12, 2016

7:33 AM Officer Ed Ruff took a report of a dispute at a Pompton Avenue residence. The resident reported that her vehicle was being blocked by the upstairs tenant’s vehicle. The resident reports this is an ongoing issue. The officer noted that there was enough room to allow the resident to exit the driveway with her vehicle.

12:55 PM Officer Ruff took a report of a burglary to a motor vehicle from a Douglas Place resident. The resident reported that his neighbor observed an unknown person rummaging through the vehicle. The unknown person then left the area in a yellow Mini Cooper. Missing from the vehicle at this time is an Iphone valued at $629.00.

4:37 PM Officer Robert Maguire took a report of criminal mischief from an E. Lincoln Street resident. The resident reported the tire on his wife’s vehicle had been punctured while it was parked in the driveway. Value of damage is unknown at this time.

February 6, 2016

5:37 PM Sgt Robert Shafer took a report of found property from a Montclair resident. The resident reported finding a license plate on Cumberland Avenue. The license plate was not on file with the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission.

February 8, 2016

6:54 PM Officer Mike Barone took a report of fraud from a Linden Avenue resident. The resident reported that she received a letter from T-Mobile denying her request for an account due to incorrect information. The resident contacted T-Mobile and advised them that she did not apply for an account. She was provided with identity theft information.

February 9, 2016

1:51 PM Officer Jordan Descafano took a report of a fraud from a Grove Avenue resident. The resident reported that she received a call advising her that she was late in paying two of her credit card bills. The caller advised her that if she paid the bills immediately the late fees would be waived. She gave the caller the banking information in order to pay the bills. When she continued to receive calls she looked up the number online and determined that this was a scam.

February 11, 2016

12:50 PM Officer Bill Frazee took a report of found property from an Elmwood Road resident. The resident reported finding a wallet on the curb in front of his home. The officer attempted to contact the owner if the wallet with negative results.
