Verona’s recent advertisement for township manager resulted in 34 applicants expressing their interest in the position. After an exhaustive review by each member of the council, the field of candidates was narrowed down to 10. Another thorough review of the top 10 candidates ended in the selection of four candidates for interviews. After one of the four candidates removed his name from consideration, the three remaining candidates were interviewed resulting in the council’s unanimous selection of Mr. Cavallo.
Mr. Cavallo, who will begin with the township on December 1, currently serves as the business administrator for the Township of Washington in Bergen County, had previously served in several positions with the Township of Wayne. Mr. Cavallo holds a masters degree in public administration from Fairleigh Dickinson University and a bachelor of arts degree from Montclair State University. He is also a certified public manager and holds certificates as a qualified purchasing agent, registered public purchasing specialist, and registered municipal clerk. In addition to his employment and educational qualifications, Mr. Cavallo is currently the president of the Wayne Fire Department, an EMT with the Wayne Township Memorial First Aid Squad, and has attained the rank of Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America.
