Mrs. Mary “Eleanor” Rock, 94, died on September 23, 2015 at her home in Caldwell. A Funeral Mass will be offered in St. Aloysius Church, Caldwell on Saturday, September 26 at 10 a.m. Visiting in the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona on Friday from 4 to 6 p.m.
Born in Newark, Mrs. Rock lived in Verona for 83 years prior to moving to Caldwell in 2009. She has a bachelor’s degree from Caldwell College and was an elementary school teacher at Our Lady of the Lake School in Verona.
Mrs. Rock was a member of the Woman’s Auxiliary of the Verona Ambulance Unit and a volunteer at the Verona Service League. After she retired, she also volunteered as a tutor for the GED Continuing Education Program in West Caldwell.
Mrs. Rock was predeceased by her husband, Thomas J. Rock, her sister Grace Bauerle and her brother, Jack Bauerle. She is the mother of Virginia Robichaud (Adrien), Thomas Rock, Ellie Rock (Dave Percy), Joseph Rock (Sandy) and is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Aloysius Church, 219 Bloomfield Avenue, Caldwell NJ 07006 would be appreciated.
