The Verona Sports Boosters would like to congratulate Bill Ferrari as the Boys Senior Athlete of the Week.
A three-year starter, Bill was injured in the third game of the season and his return this season was in doubt. This past Saturday, Ferrari returned for the semi-final playoff game against Becton and made an immediate impact, catching three passes, including a clutch catch on 4th down. On the season Bill has seven catches for more than 140 yards and a TD. The Hillbillies will play for the Group 1 North 1 State Championship at MetLife Stadium on December 5.
Bill credits Coach Bob DiTrani, who was his first coach with the Eagles, as a big influence in his football career.
Bill’s fondest VHS football memory was last season’s playoff win over Cresskill. On the game-winning field goal, Bill snapped the ball to his brother Frank, who held it for his cousin Alex Kaslander to kick.
At home, the Ferraris have an Airedale terrier named Astro. His favorite TV show is It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, and his all-time favorite movie is Django Unchained. Bill claims the New York Jets as his favorite sports team.
The best vacation Bill ever took was a trip to Ireland last year to golf with his brother, father and uncle. Next year Bill will be playing football at Johns Hopkins University in Maryland. The Verona Sports Boosters congratulates Bill on his successful return and wishes him luck in all his future endeavors.
During the 2014-2015 school year, the Verona Sports Boosters will recognize a different male and female senior athlete at Verona High School. The Boosters support male and female athletes in all VHS sports through a variety of fundraisers and recognition events.
