Bruce-WilliamsDavid Bruce Williams, 59, died on April 28, 2013 at his home in Verona. A funeral mass will be offered in St. Raphael Church, Livingston, on Friday, May 3 at 10 a.m. Visiting in the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m.

Born in Orange, Mr. Williams grew up in West Orange and moved to Verona in 1980.

He graduated from Bloomfield College with a degree in business management and was an honorary brother of the Sigma Pi Fraternity. Mr. Williams has worked for Tyco Integrated Securities (formerly ADT) for the last 38 years. He was named the Regional Director of the Year in 2008.

Active with the Boy Scouts of America, Mr. Williams was on the Advancement Committee, assistant scoutmaster and former committee chair for Verona Troop 2, a former cubmaster for Pack 1, Verona. He was also a member of the Old Guard of Camp Glen Gray in Mahwah and served on the Advancement Committee of the Broken Arrow District.

He was former chief of the Auxiliary Police in West Orange, former president of the Verona Jaycees, and a Pit Crew chair with the Verona Band Parents. He also served as an usher at St. Raphael Church in Livingston.

Mr. Williams was passionate about the Verona community as evidenced by his run for Verona Council in 2011, his service on the Public Safety Committee, his coaching many Verona youth athletic teams, being instrumental in Santa arriving at the Verona Tree Lighting each year, and leading the Annual Labor Day Run by driving the pace car with great enthusiasm, both for over 25 years.

He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Kathleen (nee Nunn) Williams, his children, Bryan and Kirsten, his mother, Kathleen (Keen) Williams and his siblings, Carol Ann Koenigsfest and John H. Williams, Jr. He was predeceased by his father, John H. Williams, Sr.
