Think you’ve been busy since the new year started? Consider what Verona High School senior Kelsey Attamante has been doing.
In an eight-day span she placed second in the 800m, took third place in pole vault and third as a member of VHS’ 4 x400m relay team in the SEC Championships. She also was part of the distance medley team that broke a VHS record and was lead leg on the 3200m relay team at the Essex County Relay Championships. For her achievements, the girls winter track team co-captain is this week’s Verona Sports Boosters Senior Athlete of the Week.
Gene Leporati, who coaches the team, says Attamante is “a very motivated and inspirational leader”. She has been a part of the track program since her freshman year at VHS and also has been a key scorer for the VHS girls soccer team. When not out for track or soccer, the honor roll student participates in activities like the high school’s Heroes & Cool Kids mentoring program.
During the 2012-2013 school year, the Verona Sports Boosters will be recognizing a different senior athlete at Verona High School every week. The Boosters support male and female athletes in all VHS sports through a variety of fundraisers and recognition events.
