One of the signature outreach programs at Verona High School is Heroes & Cool Kids. In it,  high school student leaders are trained to mentor fifth graders at H.B. Whitehorne Middle School on important life skills, including sportsmanship, conflict resolution and positive lifestyle choices highlighting drug, alcohol and tobacco prevention.

This year, 48 VHS sophomores, juniors and seniors were chosen to to be mentors and on Thursday, October 18, the new members took to the Verona Municipal Alliance Committee Ropes Course to get to know each other and to work on their own leadership and problem solving skills. The session is today’s “Verona View”.

“Verona View” is a new daily photo feature from MyVeronaNJ.com that highlights people, places and events in Verona, N.J.
