When Scott Chesney was a student at H.B. Whitehorne Middle School, he was the president of the student body and a star athlete. What he wasn’t was a leader against bullying.
Chesney, now a nationally known motivational speaker, came back to HBW on Friday to tell students that he regrets that, and that they can choose to be different. “We can’t all be leaders all the time,” Chesney said, “but be a leader when you can or be the follower of a good leader.”
News 12 New Jersey reported on the assembly and you can watch the video here. The assembly was designed to kick off the Week of Respect at HBW. Different positive character traits will be highlighted each day through classroom lessons and activities.
Scott Chesney wrote a four-part series on bullying for MyVeronaNJ.com in 2010. You can read it here.
