Literacy Volunteers of America of Essex and Passaic Counties, in partnership with the Montclair Public Library, is seeking volunteers to tutor adults in basic literacy and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL).

Tutor-training workshops will be held at the Montclair Public Library (50 S. Fullerton Avenue) on September 13, 20, 27, October 4, 11, and 18, 2012 from 2 to 5 p.m. Attendance at all six sessions is required. Knowledge of another language is not necessary and no prior experience is required. The training is free (except for your time).

After completing the training workshop, newly trained tutors will be matched with students. Together, the tutor and student plan their own lesson schedules based on availability.

With many students waiting eagerly for literacy instruction, there is currently a great need for volunteer literacy tutors. Make a difference. Share your command of the English language.

For more information, please contact: Dawn Quinn, the library’s borrower services supervisor, at 973-744-0500, ext. 2280.
