Third and fourth grade students at F.N. Brown elementary school were recently treated to a visit from Lauren Tarshis, author of the popular I Survived… series and Emma-Jean Lazarus books.

Tarshis shared how she developed a love of books after struggling with reading and writing during school. Students even helped  Tarshis show how she forced her entire family to stare at her first published book when it finally hit the shelves after several rejections. Students included Dean Palmer, Leo Xanthakos, Alex Kosulin, Olivia Vasalani, Julia Caprari, Bushra Anil, and Sara Sexton. The students are pictured here with Marisela Santiago from Watchung Booksellers, Lauren Tarshis, and Justine Cantrell, F.N. Brown librarian.
