The softball team suffered a tough loss in the state playoffs to Sussex Tech yesterday, 3-2. The Hillbillies trailed by two runs until the sixth inning when they were able to tie the game. But Tech scored one in the bottom of the seventh to move on in the states. Remy Sullivan and Caroline Chivily had both RBIs for the 10-10 ‘billies. Chivily had two hits and Natalie Wertz had a hit, stolen base and a run scored.

Sophomore Max Vasile gave up just two hits and struck out seven as the Hillbillies baseball team defeated Sussex Tech 2-0 yesterday at Doc Goeltz Field. Luke Sniatkowski had the go ahead RBI on a sacrifice fly that brought in pinch runner Tommy DeNicola (who was running for Chris Ohweiler) to go in front 1-0. Nick Looney singled in the second run. Vasile finished Tech out in the seventh as the 12-8 Hillbillies moved on to the next round against #1 seeded Pompton Lakes, which just squeaked by the #16 seed Saddle Brook 4-1. The game will be played Friday at Pompton Lakes High School.
