Loss For Softball As Golf, Tennis Win

The Verona softball team’s record dropped to 9-4 when it fell to the Caldwell Chiefs 13-2 Monday in Verona.  Caroline Chivily had a hit and scored a run. Shelley Herman had hit and an RBI in the effort.

The golf team’s record improved to 9-1 with 168 to 215 win over the Bengals of Bloomfield High School. The boys’ tennis team’s record improved to 10-3 when they swept West Orange High School on Monday. In Singles 1 Matt Tuorto topped Greg Ehrlich 7-6, 6-3, Alejandro Diaz won his singles match 6-3, 6-1 and Josh Solomon was a 6-0, 6-1 victor. In doubles Matt Brehne/Jake Miller won their match 6-1, 6-0 and Torsten Kolind/Dan Sajle took their match 6-2, 6-0.

There is a busy calendar in Hillbilly Nation on Tuesday if Mother Nature cooperates.  The boys’ lacrosse team is at Centennial Field against Newark Academy. The golf team takes on Caldwell and Science Park at Mountain Ridge Country Club. The track team is home at the H.B. Whitehorne track in at tri-meet. The girls’ lacrosse team is at MKA and baseball team takes on rival Cedar Grove at Yogi Berra Stadium on the campus of Montclair Stae in a 7:30 p.m. start.
