H.B. Whitehorne sixth grader Nicolas Slawski is a finalist for this year’s New Jersey state competition for the National Geographic Society’s National Geography Bee.

Should Slawski win the State Bee on March 30, he will qualify for the country-wide geography bee that is held in Washington, D.C.  The national bee is scheduled for May 22 to 24.

Verona has made it to the finals in the National Geographic Society bee once before: In 1996: Seyi Fayanju, then a seventh grader at the middle school, won the competition.
