Obituaries: Amelia F. Granda

Mrs. Amelia F. Granda died on her 95th birthday, November 21, 2011, in Glen Ridge. A funeral mass will be offered in Our Lady of the Lake Church, Verona on Saturday November 26 at 9:30 a.m. Visiting in the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m.

Born in Swoyersville, Penn., Mrs. Granda moved to Verona 64 years ago. She was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Church and the Verona Park Senior Citizens. She is the wife of the late Walter C. Granda, the mother of Gloria Connor, Walter J. Granda, Leonard Granda, Barbara Granda, Bernadine Valente and Arnold Bernard.

She was the third oldest of 14 children born to the late Victor and Victoria Skiendziel. Her surviving siblings are Walter, Alice, Arlene, Sr. Melita, OSF and Sr. Cynthia, OSF. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Mrs. Granda also worked with Catholic Charities as a foster parent.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory to the Bernardine Franciscan Sisters, 450 St. Bernardine Street, Reading, Penn. 19607 would be appreciated.
