The junior class of Verona High School is once again organizing a town-wide garage sale. To offset the price of the prom and senior banquet, the class gathers addresses of homes that have stuff to sell, gets the garage sale permits, puts the addresses on a map, and distributes it so that shoppers can easily go from house to house. If you’ve got “hot ticket” items, the class will print that on the map, too. You keep all the profits, and you don’t have to haul your stuff to a central selling point.
So how does the class make money? By charging a $25 fee for putting your address on the map and doing all the other work. This year’s garage sale will be held on April 30 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The rain date is May 1.
If you want to participate, send a check made out to VHS to Elaine DeVita, the teacher who helps the class manage the sale, at Verona High School, 151 Fairview Avenue, Verona, NJ 07044. If you’ve got questions, e-mail DeVita.
