Over the weekend, Colin Farawell joined a very exclusive club. He became only the third wrestler in the history of the Verona High School wrestling program to achieve 100 wins.

The milestone came at the Boonton Quad, where Farawell, a senior who has been wrestling since first grade, pinned opponents from Boonton and Bogota. The first Verona grapplers to enter the Century Club were Dillon Lawler and Chris Hardenberg, both in 2008.

Farawell has had an impressive career with the Hillbilly wrestling squad. He finished third in the 2009 Essex County Tournament, and took third in the district that year. Last year, he was first in the district in the 189 weight class and first in Region IV, the first time a Verona wrestler has had that honor. Farawell took 8th in the state championships last year.

Fred Goode captured Farawell’s victories yesterday.
