Len Waterman (l) and Rich Maly of the Public Works Department get the tree ready.

Verona’s annual Fair in the Square is Saturday, December 4 from noon to 5 p.m. The afternoon kicks off with the Verona High School Vocal Jazz Ensemble led by Judy Szybist and ends–of course–with Santa’s arrival on the fire truck. In between, there’s going to be a lot of fun, food and holiday gifts to buy.

Many of Verona’s religious groups will have information booths at the fair, including the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit, First Congregational Church, Our Lady of the Lake School and the Verona United Methodist Church. They will be joined by civic and volunteer organizations such as the Elks Lodge 2237 and Knights of Columbus Council 3632, the Verona Eagles Competitive Cheering, Girl Scout Troop 35, the Verona Environmental Commission, Project Graduation 2012, Verona Women’s Club, Verona Historical Society, Verona Municipal Alliance Committee, PAWS (the Pound Animal Welfare Society), Verona High School Alumni Association and Verona’s police, fire and rescue squads.

UNICO will be back with its moon walk, as will Hillcrest Farm’s ice sculpture demonstration and Polka Dot. The kids can get their pictures taken with Snoopy (noon to 4 p.m.) and Santa (2 to 3:30 p.m.), and the Verona Boy Scouts’ Troop 2 will be holding a children’s workshop from 2 to 3:30 p.m.
