Marching Band Ends Season On A High Note

It all came down to a difference of 1.413 points.

That was all that separated the Verona Marching Maroon and White from West Milford High School’s band at the Northern States Band competition in Allentown, Pa. on Sunday. While Verona won best percussion and best overall effect, those 1.413 points meant that first place went to West Milford. Though perhaps not the end that the Verona band wanted for its competition season, it was quite an achievement when you consider the respective size of the schools: West Milford has about four times as many students to draw from when creating its marching band.

So we’ll congratulate the Marching Maroon and White for their effort, and their parents for supporting them, and share these photos that John McClellan took of the Allentown competition.

  1. They were on fire that night! Exceptional performance and not to mention – they received BEST PERCUSSION and OVERALL EFFECT – also, when they competed against West Milford at Mount Olive – VERONA came in the lead! It was an amazing run this year – they are an exceptional group of kids, teachers and staff!
