It was a long time in coming, but the mid-block traffic light on Lakeside Avenue is finally operational. The light, which is located between Hillside Avenue and Morningside Road, is pedestrian activated, so it only changes when someone is looking to cross to Verona Park. It was set-up mid-block to deter drivers from cutting into the residential neighborhood to avoid a light. Verona Town Manager Joe Martin said at the last Town Council meeting that Verona is continuing to work with Essex County to lower the speed on Lakeside from 40 to 35 miles per hour.
