Native Americans built teepees from tree branches and reeds to support the bean crops that were key to their survival. Preschool-age children can learn to build their own version of a pole bean teepee on June 24 at the Essex County Environmental Center in Roseland. The class, which starts at 1 p.m., costs $12 per child and includes all materials. If you have a child between the ages 3½ and 5 who is interested in attending, you must register by calling 973-228-8776.
