Further proof that Verona is not South Florida: Home prices have fallen only 8% from 2008 through the first six months of 2009. That compares with an 18% drop in Glen Ridge, a 19% drop in Maplewood, a 23% slide in West Orange and a whopping 27% free-fall in Montclair.
The data from the New Jersey Department of Treasury, is reported in today’s issue of The Star Ledger, which notes that the number of homes sold in Essex County plummeted 42% in the first half of the year. Verona’s sales actually rose 7%, the only town in the county to post an increase.
I grew up in Verona and now live in
Florida via Missouri. You can no way compare Verona to South (West) Florida. So, the comment “further proof” is not even something that should have even been mentioned in the article. Not to mention we encountered a cat 5 hurriane “Charly” five years ago which totally changed our real estate completely and set it off kilter.
